Then I can only ask why you'd choose to bring it up again.

If you can drive it without getting stuck/crashing, it works in winter. If you can't, either because it sucks or you suck, change something.
People need to stop insisting that what other people are doing is wrong, despite the fact that it is working.

98 Eagle Talon TSI AWD.
300 hp to the wheels on ~25 psi so i need the extra grip in snow
![]() 01/22/2015 at 13:58 |

Me too! A4, 6 speed, quattro, General Altimax Arctics.

damn, you dont see too many of those around any more. i went to a daily driver race at a oval track a few years back. the final 4 were a talon/eclipse AWD, 3000gt VR4, and a couple muscle cars, i think a gto and a chevelle. that must be a fun car

98 Eagle Talon TSI AWD
Bridgestone blizzacks.
I have too much hp to hook tho

Yea its a blast. pretty quick for what it is.
I call it the WRX killer cause all the people here in southwest Michigan have wrx's and they think they are hot shit. Most of them are stock still too

I don't know...
I think 4WD with snow tires, extra ground clearance, and remote start might have you beat. Plus I can change to RWD should the mood ever occur. Plus I can put my snowmobile in the back.

Meh, I'd rather have something with some sort of differential lock.

RWD and snow tires FTW
![]() 01/22/2015 at 14:08 |

haha i don;t blame them. even in stock form they are pretty damn fast.

I have AWD and Snow/Winter tires too! Can we be friends?
Seriously though, I don't think I could get stuck unless I really really tried.

I almost got the Generals. I ended up with Firestones. I thin the sidewall tread design is a little cheesy but other than that they have worked well in the 1" of snow we've had so far

Yea i could probably get more power with a few more small mods but i dont really need it.
I was looking at WRX before i got this but they are just too expensive.
![]() 01/22/2015 at 14:11 |

i dunno if it has locks but its pretty badass
![]() 01/22/2015 at 14:13 |

yea i dumped pretty much everything i had into gettin this. no room for mods. I kinda wish I went used but they were asking so much it didnt make sense. I also needed 4 drs cuz kids.

makes sense. Its a hatch tho so automatically better. I love the hatches way more than the sedans

sure why not. what do u drive?

I had a Sport Trac. I do miss being able to break the rear end free any time I desired. You definatly have me on clearance

Subaru Crosstrek

I haven't been that impressed with them. I'll probably go Blizzak or X-Ice next time around.

my wife wants one but it would be too small. that would be our main family hauler and it needs to be 6+ seats. how do you like it? does everything rattle and creak? One problem I have with the WRX is the top of the dash is too reflective so the sun reflects back onto the windshield.
![]() 01/22/2015 at 14:27 |
|
that must be fun. i'd imagine gettin up a hill can still be tricky?

I almost got snow tires for my '05 Yukon XL (2500) but decided to sell it the same winter I was debating to get the snow tires. If I had kept it I probably would have gotten them. Thing was a beast!

This is my first Subaru, but it feels like a car I've known forever.
There a couple of dash rattles near the base of the windshield that become more prevalent in cold weather. I have the CVT and honestly its a completely acceptable driving experience. I usually pull down close to 30mpg in mixed driving. I've gone to 34 doing trips across the PA turnpike. I have that stupid reflective problem on the bezel for the transmission. Polished metal (plastic) that always seems to catch the sun. Stupid design.
I agree that unfortunately the vehicle wouldn't do for you. I can't imagine that passenger number five in the middle would be all that comfortable. I think it's a perfect car for small families though. Or my wife and our dogs.

we have 2 girls a little over 2.5 yrs old. i'm just thinking if we went anywhere and they both had a friend to bring that we wouldn;t fit. We've gone out with my wife's sister who got stuck in the back between the 2 car seats. i don't think she was comfortable. right now she has an Escape. aside from the occasional outing it works fine. everything definitely rattles in the cold more.

At a minimum it locks the center when you engage 4wd.

Finally got snow tires. Weakest winter in history.
![]() 01/22/2015 at 15:12 |

no shit. i had summer tires last winter and it was a nightmare. now that i'm prepared there is nothing
![]() 01/22/2015 at 15:29 |

FWD is the worse than rwd imo.
Of course any car with proper tires is going to beat a car without proper tires, generally speaking.
My main thing is if you don't have a lot of experience driving in the snow in different cars you should keep your mouth closed. I've never seen such a large debate fired off by someone (orig awd snow tire fiasco) with so little experience. It was all speculation.

Yeah I moved to SLC about a year ago from TX. So I'm not used to snow driving. Got the tires for my Impreza and was totally going to own winter this season. Nothing.

Impreza with snows. Worked well the one day the roads were actually covered.

It's a blast. I can pretty much drift any corner I've got a clear line of sight through. I'll get some wheelspin getting going on some inclines, but with a couple of sandbags in the trunk and hakka's providing the grip, I haven't had any serious issues.
